The City of Birmingham is home to 26 parks with a wide variety of amenities including sports and picnic facilities, playgrounds, ample green space for events and activities, trails and more. Two of these parks are located within the heart of Downtown Birmingham, offering visitors engaging recreational and entertainment opportunities.

Shain Park
Located in the heart of Downtown Birmingham, along Merrill Street, Shain Park features expansive green space with outdoor seating options, paved walking paths, public art, a children's playground, a performance stage area with room for large audiences, and more. A variety of events and activities, including the annual Winter Markt and the In the Park Summer Concerts, are hosted in Shain Park.

Booth Park
Located at the southwest intersection of North Old Woodward Avenue and Harmon Street, north of the Rouge River branch, Booth Park features an award-winning playscape, a trail connecting to the Rouge River Trail System, native plantings and rain gardens, and ample green space for year-round events and recreational activities. Booth Park is a popular venue for outdoor events in the summer and recreational activities including sledding and cross country skiing in the winter.

Rouge River Trail System
The Rouge River Trail System can be accessed at multiple points throughout the City, including a trailhead at Booth Park downtown. The groomed trail system offers a year-round scenic opportunity for physical fitness activity and to connect with nature.
