Many of his works on paper start as a digital print, which he then takes in unique directions by adding layers of media and texture. Marc holds a BFA in painting and printmaking from Wayne State University. "I just love experimenting and pushing the boundaries of different materials. Blurring the lines between digital and analog art is my passion," expresses Marc Garrison. |
8 Eileen Fisher 286 West Maple Road ARTIST: COLLYN DEBANO "My process, like my work, is so very simple. Find it, collect it, transform it, wear it. I find something mundane in nature- the maple seed on the side walk, the spiral of a succulent’s petals, the sprouting of a bud from a twig. Pick it up and add it to my collection, a collection of objects with no value themselves, but become valuable through the context of their collection. I transform the elements of my collection through the process of casting, creating a mold of the ephemeral specimen, surrounding it in plaster, burning it away, then replacing it with bronze, silver, and gold. Although my initial treasure is destroyed in the process, it has become perennial. These cast elements become jewelry to be worn and treasured by another collector." |
9 Saint Croix 268 West Maple Road ARTIST: LISA GRIZANIUK "I can’t describe the joy that comes from the liberty to paint. Another love is gardening and it offers me some inspiration when I can gather a bouquet. Flowers never disappoint. I’m thrilled to share my work with you and look forward to painting and selling my work. May you find someone’s art and hang it in your space." |
10 Gazelle Sports 99 West Maple Rd ARTIST: ANNE KELLY "Drawing has always been my escape from the ordinary. In school I drew all the time, filling the margins of my notebooks with elaborate doodles and caricatures. Always I have drawn faces, as a way of connecting to other people in a meaningful way. I enjoy dipping my brush in all kinds of paint, finding the challenge of expression to have a new path depending on the medium. |
11 Lux Travel Girl, Inc. 114 South Old Woodward Avenue ARTISTS: ANITA SEWELL & DAWUD SHABAZZ Anita Sewell's artistic odyssey is deeply rooted in her upbringing in Detroit, where she discovered the boundless freedom of childhood imagination. Over her 15-year career, Anita's artistic trajectory has been a vibrant evolution, initially navigating the expressive realms of acrylic paint before venturing into the nostalgic embrace of oil-based mediums and the raw spontaneity of charcoal. Dawud Shabazz is a self taught artist born and raised in Detroit. "Growing up in Detroit with the privilege of being surrounded by so much creativity and blessed to be influenced by it. I once sketched a portrait of my mother at the age of 7, she was so proud. From then I knew I wanted to be an artist. My first acknowledgement and exhibit of my art was in the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in the late 90's. Through the years of working there, I became a supervisor trusted with maintaining the beautiful art on the Mezzanine. I had the privilege of observing so many styles of different artist as I had access to many areas. I constantly created art on my breaks, and stored them in my office. One day the president of the museum passed my office and my art caught her eye. She was so impressed that she made it possible for my art to be exhibited within a month. I thank GOD for blessing me and guiding me in my journey. I use many different medias and other textured elements. I believe that working in a single media is restrictive to my creative process. Each idea manifests and evolve of it's own." |

After several years of study I developed a personal style. I began painting at a local art center and found that my favorite paintings looked like glass. The colors, the shapes, and the movement look like my glass work. I hope you enjoy my paintings which many are a collage of found materials gathered over years.” |
